Light is no longer just a convenience: the story of Olha, who creates stability for her daughter during the war!

When the lights go out - it’s not only comfort that disappears, but also the ability to study, work, and stay connected with loved ones.

For Olha, an internally displaced person from Ruska Lozova in Kharkiv region, these moments have become part of everyday life.

Together with her 12-year-old daughter, she is currently living in a temporary accommodation center for displaced persons in Kharkiv.

Constant shelling and power outages created additional challenges - especially for the child’s education.

Learning despite the circumstances!

For Olha’s daughter, learning did not stop - she attends classes online.
But even this became a challenge when the power goes out.

“For us, this is not just assistance. It is the feeling that we are not left alone with our problems,” says Olha.

Within the project, she received a “Blaho” electronic certificate with a value of 6,000 UAH.

With these funds, she purchased a power bank and lighting devices.
This decision was simple, yet very important.

Thanks to this support, the family was able to secure basic needs that once seemed ordinary.

“Now my daughter can study properly even when there is no electricity, and I have the opportunity to stay in touch with my loved ones,” Olha shares.

The story of our heroine is about adapting to a new reality, where even basic needs require additional solutions.

At the same time, it is about the importance of timely support.
Because sometimes such seemingly small solutions help restore a sense of stability.
And make it possible to move forward - despite everything.

The assistance was provided within the framework of the project “Integrated psychosocial and educational support for children and families in temporary accommodation settings during the energy crisis,” implemented with the support of the Government of the United Kingdom under the SPIRIT project, in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
