Implemented by Unity Platform NGO, the project strengthened the local healthcare system’s capacity to deliver safe and effective surgical care in a frontline region.
The main goal is to strengthen the capacity of the healthcare system through the modernization of surgical equipment, development of staff competencies, and ensuring barrier-free access to medical services.

Key Achievements

  1. Equipping the hospital with modern medical equipment
  • 21 units of surgical equipment were purchased and delivered to Zmiiv Central District Hospital.
  • Accuracy, safety, and volume of surgical interventions have been improved.
  • Stable operation of the hospital in a frontline region has been ensured.
  1. Inclusion and accessibility in the medical space

Braille navigation, as well as tactile and visual labeling of rooms and wards, was introduced in the surgical department. The space has become more convenient and accessible for people with visual impairments.
3. Professional training for medical personnel

  • Theoretical and practical training was conducted for 40 medical workers from the Zmiiv community.
  • Effective use of the new equipment and sustained quality of medical services have been ensured.
  1. Mobile accessibility for the community
  • An electric tracked stair climber was purchased and delivered to ensure barrier-free access to the Pension Fund building.
  • A responsible staff member was appointed and trained to operate it.
  1. Information campaign
  • Over 5,000 people reached through social media.
  • A ceremonial handover of the equipment was held with the participation of medical staff, the community, and media, which increased the project's public visibility.

The Saved Lives project showcased a holistic approach to healthcare recovery, integrating modern medical technologies, professional development, and inclusive design.
It enhanced surgical safety, accessibility, and community trust, ensuring long-term resilience of the local healthcare system.
