Role of Unity Platform: Engaged experts and crisis managers within the project
Unity Platform NGO contributed to the implementation of an educational and psychosocial recovery program aimed at restoring access to quality education, addressing learning loss, and providing mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) for children, educators, and families affected by displacement and war.
The organization’s specialists served as crisis managers and technical experts, coordinating educational activities and integrating psychosocial support mechanisms across schools and temporary learning centers in Kharkiv region.
Key Achievements
- Safe Learning Environments
- Established and equipped three Temporary Learning Centers (TLCs) in Zmiiv, Lozova
- Berestyn communities, enabling safe offline learning for children and adolescents, including IDPs
- Inclusive Education and Support for Children with Special Needs
- Delivered 360 inclusive learning kits to nine communities in Kharkiv region.
- Together with Inclusive Resource Centers, developed and implemented special sessions for children with disabilities and learning difficulties.
- Teacher Training and Capacity Building
- Trained 972 educators in recovery education, MHPSS, and PSEA principles, strengthening their ability to teach and support students in emergency settings.
- This strengthened the professional capacity of teachers and improved the quality of the educational process during the war.
Impact and Sustainability
The project restored community trust in local education systems and provided a scalable model for inclusive, resilient learning environments.
Through continued collaboration between communities, schools, and Unity Platform experts, the initiative contributes to the long-term recovery, education, and mental well-being of children in war-affected regions.
